Abstract:
Gathegi (information law and policy, media law, the First Amendment, U. of South Florida) offers expert advice on intellectual property, and copyright law in particular, for digital librarians, computing managers, and chief information officers. The author's intent is to provide them with a sound understanding of copyright law and how it impacts digital content management, as well as provide ways to avoid legal problems in the field and answers to the most likely to be encountered legal questions in digital libraries. Topics include: content ownership and owner rights and limitations, digital media licensing, infringement and its results, the service provider safe harbor, copyright royalties, and international aspects of copyright.
